ABOUT ME

BIOGRAPHY

My name is Lauryn. I’m a second-degree dietetics student at the University of Maryland, College Park.  After earning a degree in International Studies from American University, working two years as an AmeriCorps VISTA member, and moving across the country, I decided to blend my passions for social justice, ending poverty and hunger, and nutrition education, to become a registered dietitian nutritionist.

While studying dietetics I have juggled a part-time job at the Maryland SNAP-Ed program. I have also had the opportunity to get clinical, food service, and community nutrition experience as well as be exposed to non-traditional opportunities within the field such as private practice, media and communications. With the growth that I have experienced personally and professionally, I know I’m ready to take the next step in this journey.

When I'm not focused on my career and school, I like to spend time with my partner, family, friends and have a lot of fun. Being a California native, I feel best outside & in the sun. I love swimming, camping, hiking, and cooking. I’m more of an introvert, and when I need to recharge I enjoy walking, listening to a great podcast, or watching documentary films.
